Dear Trainees, Families, and Followers,
These past few months have been chaotic, challenging and exhausting and at the same time, inspiring, exhilarating, and gratifying.
Most of all we have been humbled and honored by the response from our colleagues and customers. With three major events coming to a close -- The Florida Baseball Ranch®/Dutch Baseball Skill Acquisition Summit, our Complete Game Summer Training Program and the largest Elite Performance Boot Camp we’ve ever held -- our staff and I have finally had a chance to sit back and reflect for a moment.
Our initial thoughts are of the deep appreciation we have for the people who made that leap to join us and to be a part of what we believe is something special.
Personally, I would like to thank every summer trainee who sacrificed time, money, and memories to come work with us. There are plenty of other cutting-edge facilities across the country, but it means the world to us that you chose The Florida Baseball Ranch®.
Our operational mission is to elicit improvement in every Ranch athlete with a hyper-individualized, multidimensional training plan that elevates his/her performance to at least one level above where they were when they started. The numbers we saw this summer reflect that accomplished our goal.
We hosted 130 athletes whose length of stay ranged from 2-10 weeks. They trained for 5 hours per day, 5 days per week and our hitters added on an additional 2 hours every day.
Our throwing athletes gained an average of 4.2 mph in 4 weeks, 4.8 mph in 7 weeks and those who stayed the entire 10 weeks saw average gains of 6.1 mph. The same group of guys improved their strike percentage by an average of 16.6%. The hitters added an average of 7.6 mph in exit velocity over 8 weeks.
Thirty-five guys arrived at The Ranch with self-reported arm pain of 5/10 or more. After 4 weeks, 100% of those players were completely pain-free and able to resume normal training.
These gains were indeed impressive; however, the growth that I saw in a lot of young men wasn’t just in velocity, command, or bat speed. It was in their character and their everyday lives.
You see, the very first time an athlete steps through that barn door, they have a decision to make. They can either be intimidated by the work and turn away to live a comfortable life. Or, they can take a leap of faith, accept the challenge, and evolve into a Ranch Guy; someone who is on the relentless pursuit of excellence in all facets of life.
To those trainees, and there were a lot of them this year, we thank you, we salute you, and we welcome you to the Ranch Family.
Additionally, I want to thank the thousands of local training Ranch Guy studs who sacrifice, sweat and bleed with us every day to achieve their dreams. You are turning The Florida Baseball Ranch® into a legitimate talent hotbed. Your faith in us and your commitment to the pursuit of excellence is inspiring. It is an honor to work with you all.
The reviews of our Skill Acquisition Summit have been overwhelming.
So many people played essential roles in the success of this transformational event, but first I want to thank each one of the over 150 coaches, PTs, ATCs, Chiros, and MLB player development personnel who were on board for this exciting exchange of ideas.
I would also like to thank my business partner for the last 19 years and my dear friend, our CFO/COO, Amy Marsh, who did an unbelievable job orchestrating this entire production.
The amount of preparation, planning, and attention to detail was more than I could have ever imagined. Amy is the hardest working person I know, and she plays a vital role in pushing our company forward every day.
Next, I would like to thank our panel of speakers: Frans Bosch, Rob Gray, Ron Wolforth, Martijn Nijhoff, Paul Venner, and Bart Hanegraaff. Gentlemen, you bring unparalleled insight to the game of baseball, and you challenge us to think past the status quo.
By encouraging us to reach beyond our comfort zones, you have made us all better, and in doing so, you have provided an invaluable service to the baseball training industry.
We can never thank you enough.
And finally, I would like to thank our staff, who relentlessly exhausted themselves to make sure the event would be top notch. Corey Stump, Garrison Roy, Jordan Rassmann, Grant McKown, Alec Hammond, Adam Vasil, Scott Munroe, and Kellianne May, you guys are the heart and soul of everything we do here at The Ranch. It is a privilege to share this amazing ride with you as we grow together.
To all the summit attendees, I offer this call to action. Please pay this event forward. Go out and change the game of baseball with the knowledge we all gained. Always remember that every athlete we encounter, at whatever level of play, is someone’s child – their pride and joy – and there will come a time when that athlete needs your help. May the power of the information you gained and your heartfelt desire to help, allow you to have a lasting impact on their life.
Here at The Florida Baseball Ranch®, our goal is to be one of the most elite training facilities in the world and to help as many athletes as possible achieve their dreams. After this weekend, I believe we have the information and ability to accomplish that goal. We look forward to bringing you new content, new throwing and hitting protocols, new SAVAGE workouts, new movement enhancers, and serving you to the best of our ability.
Until then, go out and get SAVAGE.
